Org Chart
The Org Chart gives you a visual map of your workspace's reporting structure — who reports to whom, what their role is, and their current membership status.
How to access it
Click Org Chart in the left sidebar. The chart loads automatically based on the manager relationships set on each member's profile.
What it shows
Each node in the chart represents a workspace member and displays:
- Name and photo (if set)
- Current position / job title
- Membership status (Active, Invited, Draft, Inactive)
Members are connected by reporting lines based on the manager field set on their profile. The chart is read-only — to change the structure, update the manager assignment on the relevant profile in People.
Collapsed and expanded view
Large organizations can get deep quickly. Use the Collapse all and Expand all controls at the top to manage the view. Individual branches can also be toggled by clicking a node.
Unassigned members
Members without a manager assigned appear in a separate Unassigned section below the main chart. If you're seeing more people there than expected, it means their manager field hasn't been set yet.
Warnings
Admins may see a warnings panel flagging structural issues in the hierarchy:
| Warning | What it means |
|---|---|
| Multiple roots | More than one member has no manager — the chart has multiple top-level nodes |
| Circular chain | A reporting chain loops back on itself (e.g. A → B → A) |
| Self-reporting | A member is set as their own manager |
| Manager outside workspace | A manager assignment points to someone not in the workspace |
Warnings don't break the chart — they're informational flags to help you clean up the data.
Setting up the reporting structure
Manager assignments are made from a member's profile:
- Go to People and open the member's profile
- Find the Manager field
- Select the appropriate manager from the workspace member list
- Save
The org chart updates immediately.
