Multiple Contracts

A person can have more than one contract in Workloom — and that's completely normal.

When does this happen?

  • Someone started as a contractor and became a full-time employee
  • A fixed-term contract was renewed or extended
  • A person works in two different roles simultaneously
  • A previous contract expired and a new one was created

How contracts stack on a profile

All contracts are listed chronologically on a person's profile under the Contracts tab. You'll see each one with its type, dates, and status.

Only one contract should be active at a time for standard employment arrangements — though Workloom doesn't restrict you from having multiple active contracts if your setup requires it.

Best practice: end before you begin

When replacing an old contract with a new one:

  1. Set an end date on the current contract
  2. Create the new contract with the correct start date

This gives you a clean, accurate history — and makes reporting much easier down the line.

tip

The "overlap" of one day is fine when transitioning. Set the old contract to end on the last day of the old arrangement, and the new one to start the next day.

Viewing contract history

From a person's profile, click the Contracts tab to see all past and present contracts. Each one shows its status, making it easy to spot what's current and what's historical.
